Fujitsu and subsidiary 1Finity unveiled plans to open an innovation lab in the US to demonstrate the capabilities of its advanced optical network platform for data centres.
In a statement, Fujitsu explained its Open Networking Innovation Centre-Americas (ONIC-Americas), opening in November in Sunnyvale, California, will offer clients real-world interoperability testing, enabling them to bring their own equipment to validate seamless integration across diverse vendor technologies.
The lab is designed to accelerate adoption of multivendor, low-power, high-capacity platforms, the statement added. It will feature energy-efficient 1.2Tb/s transmission using 1Finity’s T900 series liquid-cooled transponder.
Rod Naphan, chief revenue officer and head of 1Finity’s network customer success unit, noted the centre “underscores our commitment” to driving open standards and fostering interoperability. “We’re excited to welcome industry visitors to help shape the future of open, sustainable, multivendor networks.”

The project is supported by Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and follows the launch of ONIC-Europe in Dusseldorf, Germany.
Fujitsu set up in 1Finity earlier this year as its network products subsidiary.
The innovation centres are part of an aim to expand its global footprint and collaborate with network operators, vendors, integrators and enterprises.
