LG Uplus and KB Kookmin Bank joined forces to combat voice phishing in South Korea, with the bank set to use the operator’s AI-assisted app ixi-O to detect suspicious patterns and prevent financial losses.
The pair plan to set up a platform linking phishing patterns detected by the app with the bank’s financial protection system to enable real-time detection and early response.
The app supports real-time voice phishing detection as well as analysis of malicious app installations and access to risky URLs, the operator noted in a statement.

The operator, the smallest in Korea by subscribers, agreed to share suspected phishing data with the National Police Agency in August.
In May, LG Uplus upgraded its damage prevention analysis system using AI to block voice phishing attacks.
