Samsung Electronics and Turkish Airlines launched a service to help locate and recover passengers’ lost luggage, an arrangement the manufacturer aims to replicate with other providers.
In a statement, Samsung explained the collaboration would enable the airline to improve case recovery for passengers who have used a Galaxy SmartTag and included a link to it in their lost luggage report.
Users can upload an image of their case onto an accompanying app to make it easier to identify should it be misplaced.

The Smart Tagged Baggage Service is based on SmartThings Find, a Samsung system used to track its range of connected devices. It uses Bluetooth Low Energy and ultra-wideband technology.
Turkish Airlines intends to extend use of the system to other customer services which could benefit from location tracking.
Samsung plans to launch similar services with other airlines alongside “partnerships across industries to help customers stay connected and at ease wherever they are”, EVP and head of SmartThings Jaeyeon Jung said.
