Telecompaper, citing a Xinhua article, notes that China Unicom launched its 3G services officially on 1 October, following rivals China Mobile and China Telecom. China Unicom’s 3G network is based on WCDMA technology and currently covers 258 cities in China. The operator has also begun selling the iPhone.
