Enterprise IT services provider Kyndryl highlighted a private cloud element in a deal with global veterinarian drugs developer Virbac which adds a fresh factor in an arrangement to continue running the laboratory’s broader IT systems.
Kyndryl’s cloud move will consolidate various Virbac workloads on a single data centre in Montpellier, France, optimising the laboratory’s IT environment and providing a consumption-based model which can heighten or reduce energy use based on demand.
The company is also set to continue to manage Virbac servers running the proprietary IBM i OS.
There is a human element in the mix, with Kyndryl’s consulting staff and engineers due to work with Virbac counterparts to oversee the shift and uptake of emerging technologies.

A Virbac representative said it expects the more flexible IT infrastructure and services to remain a key element in its “operational resiliency and growth strategy”.
They said the work Kyndryl is undertaking is “critical as we develop our activities on an international scale”.
Adding to the private cloud element are those involving security, storage and back-up services: Kyndryl stated this would encompass the delivery of “high-performance infrastructure services” to handle Virbac’s “mission-critical applications”.
Virbac provides its veterinarian pharmaceutical services in more than 100 countries, with product spanning more than 50 species
