A major Indian consumer electronics, lighting and mobile phone manufacturer selected Tech Mahindra to handle a digital transformation project intended to streamline its operations across multiple sites.
Contract electronics maker Dixon Technologies (India) aims to overhaul close to 30 manufacturing and R&D sites with AI-imbibed automation capabilities. Tech Mahindra stated the goal is an Industry 4.0 transformation of the company’s operations to up the pace of decision making and improve sustainability.
The technology consulting and digital products company is lining up its suite of Smart Factory Services, comprising technologies including AI, IoT, robotics and cloud computing.
Tech Mahindra stated the range would provide Dixon Technologies with “end-to-end integration” and help to consolidate investments, ultimately contributing to cost savings and improved productivity.
The company manufactures LED TVs and lightbulbs, washing machines, refrigerators, wearables, mobile phones, and telecom and IT hardware.

It also repairs and refurbishes LED TV panels.
Dixon Technologies’ vice chair and MD Atul Lall said Tech Mahindra’s work would enable it to remain at the “forefront of technological innovation in manufacturing”.
He highlighted the consultancy’s “proven track record in delivering next-generation digital manufacturing solutions”.
Tech Mahindra explained its work for the company would help set a standard for how manufacturers can employ “AI, automation and digital technologies” to revamp their operations.
COO Atul Soneja said “operational resilience and adaptability” are becoming essential features for Indian manufacturers due to a revolution in the sector.
