Omdia expressed confidence the global AMOLED market would remain lucrative in 2025, though indicated the release of fresh smartphone and mobile PC models would not be enough to top the $54 billion in revenue booked in 2024.
Analysts predict sales to recover across the second half of the year and help offset challenging conditions in the opening six months during which price competition was intense.
Omdia expects $53 billion in revenue for the full year, with broad rises in AMOLED shipments fuelled by demand for low-temperature polycrystalline oxide backplane flexible smartphone displays and polysilicon variants for mobile PCs.
David Hsieh, senior director for display, expressed optimism the AMOLED sector would recover from its current stagnation in 2026.

He explained panel prices in the smartphone OLED segment of the market are dropping due to penetration now exceeding 50 per cent, but indicated notebook and tablet PC variants are “expected to continue to grow with greater specifications”.
Cost remains a factor in the PC segment, though Hsieh said the price premium of OLED panels compared with LCD “continues to shrink”.
Hsieh expects competition in the price and specification of AMOLEDs to “become harsher from now on”, due to growing fabrication capacity for Gen8.6 OLEDs in China over the “next few years”.
The analyst tips Chinese fabricators to focus on “multiple-application panels” for smartphones, tablets, notebooks and monitors.
