Verizon showed some community spirit with the launch of a sweepstake offering teenagers the chance to meet a top basketball player in the US state of Texas.

The contest to meet Dallas Wings player Paige Bueckers (pictured, left) opened on 8 August and runs until 17 August. Verizon stated it is a chance for it to give something back to the city and nearby Forth Worth, an area in which it is one of the largest employers.

Verizon is inviting entries for people aged between 13-years and 17-years old at specific stores in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

At stake is a showcase of Bueckers’ on court skills, strategic knowledge and mental tips at an event also featuring musical entertainment.

Bueckers said the event is a chance to give-back to a community which supported her and “empower the next generation of athletes”.

The player joined Dallas Wings earlier this year after winning multiple honours during a successful college career.
