Samsung Electronics established a new unit to manage high-impact AI initiatives across the organisation, with a focus on humanoid robots, digital twins and other related technologies, The Korean Herald reported.

The Device eXperience (DX) division, which comprises Samsung’s mobile and consumer electronics businesses, launched InnoX Lab yesterday (4 August).

With the goal of driving forward-looking change and technological breakthroughs, the unit will run on a flexible project-based model, selecting appropriate talent across organisational boundaries and focusing on rapid execution, the newspaper wrote.

Specific projects will cover expanding digital twin applications, improving logistics operations using AI and boosting manufacturing automation.

The company set up a dedicated AI productivity innovation group within the DX division in May as part of its broader AI for All strategy.

In December 2024, the tech giant established an AI centre within its chip business, restructuring the existing innovation centre.

Samsung reportedly invested $10 million in a Series B funding round for Skild AI, a start-up focused on developing software for consumer robots.
