Vodafone Group pledged to reveal the successor to its chief HR officer Leanne Wood by the end of the month after the executive outlined an intention to quit the company at the close of the year.
Wood’s departure is not the end of her involvement with Vodafone in its entirety: it stated she is scheduled to continue to represent the operator on the board of its African subsidiary Vodacom Group and on the shareholders committee of infrastructure business Vantage Towers.
But beyond those roles, the HR expert is lining up a shift towards a portfolio-style career after leading Vodafone’s personnel department since 2019.

Wood (pictured, right) said the time is right for the change because Vodafone had reshaped and “transformed”.
Vodafone CEO Margherita Della Valle said Wood “played a central role in our mission to change” the operator by focusing on its customer experience and streamlining operations.
The CEO said Wood’s contribution had been “outstanding” and she is pleased there will be continued involvement in non-executive roles.
