BT Group talked up its capabilities in providing UK-based infrastructure and data management as it launched a sovereign information platform for digital details targeting private and public sector organisations.
The operator stated its network infrastructure is already geared to handle and protect information, a base it is building on with its sovereign set-up.
“Sovereignty isn’t simply a matter of compliance or risk management”, BT Business CEO Jon James said.
He argued the concept is “key to unleashing the potential of AI and ensuring resilient operations”.
BT explained its sovereign platform builds on its credentials as a provider of sensitive customer data management and broader infrastructure.

James said there is growing demand from organisations for sovereign systems and the company separately quoted a Gartner forecast stating 65 per cent of governments would set dominion requirements by 2028.
BT’s platform spans connectivity, security, cloud, AI and unified communications.
It stated the level of control afforded would boost organisations’ ability to employ AI by ensuring data protection and abiding by ethical standards.
BT plans to make the platform the foundation of fresh voice, cloud and AI services scheduled to launch over the coming months.
The move is also set to enable its Business unit to add sovereign options to existing core products and services beginning in the opening half of 2026.
