Vodafone IoT appointed former Deutsche Telekom IoT CEO Dennis Nikles as MD for the Americas, as the company steps up efforts to expand its footprint in the region.

Nikles takes on the role immediately and will report to Vodafone IoT CEO Erik Brenneis. He is charged with scaling the unit’s operations across North, Central and South America, a region Vodafone said is central to a long-term global growth strategy.

In a statement, Brenneis highlighted Nikles’ “proven ability to build and scale international business”. He joins Vodafone six months after leaving Deutsche Telekom IoT, after serving as CEO for four years. During his time at the German operator, he led its involvement in Bridge Alliance, a global consortium focused on cross-border IoT services.

Commenting on his new role, Nikles said, “IoT is no longer just about connecting devices – it is about enabling businesses to be more competitive, innovative, and sustainable.” He added that Vodafone IoT’s “global scale, local expertise and commitment to customer success” will enable him to “unlock new opportunities and deliver real business value”.

Vodafone IoT, spun out as a standalone business from Vodafone Group in 2024, connects over 215 million devices across the world and maintains partnerships with 760 networks across 180 countries. The company has offices in the US, Germany, UK, Portugal, Spain, and Italy.
